dogLearn How You Can Improve Your Relationship With Your Dog On Your Own.

There are a number of things you can do every day that will gradually improve the relationship you have with your dog. You don't need special training, just a desire to have a better life with your companion.

Feeding Your Puppy

How often should you feed your puppy: Unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian, feed him three times daily. Take his daily allowance and divide by three. At six months of age you can decrease the feedings to twice daily. At one year of age, you can feed once daily. Remember to feed your puppy to an ideal weight as recommended by your vet. For healthy snacks, try vegetables—baby carrots, green beans, broccoli. They're healthy and the fiber will be good for him too!!

Rewards Reap Rewards.

By rewarding your dog for desired behaviors, he learns to do “the right thing” rather than just learning to avoid the wrong thing. Always praise him lavishly for doing something good. He will repeat behaviors that mean something good for him.

Don't Teach Fear.

Punishing your dog physically will only teach him to fear you. Fear is a primary cause of aggression. Never punish him by physical means.

Learn From Him.

Rewards are anything that is of value to your dog. Food is a primary reward, but if he loves a good game of fetch, this can be used to reward him for good behavior as well. Learn what makes your dog happy, and use that as a reward for good behavior.
